I recorded this during one of the days we spent on the beach. Some music they were playing down the way from us ended up as the perfect backing track.

I had made a number of attempts to record these church bells from our hotel room window but either didn't have my minidisc ready or just missed completely. I took a few days before we realized that they were ringing at 7:40 PM every evening. Kind of a strange time but I finally made the recording.

I recorded this while walking in the water on a beach in Alghero. As you can hear in the first part of the recording, the water was a little cold.

If you've ever considered visiting Sardinia, I can't recommend it enough. True I've only seen Alghero but I imagine the rest is just as beautiful. This is a composition created from manipulated field recordings made in and around Alghero. All of the sourced recordings will be posted on this site shortly.

Antonio & Friends (mp3)

My wife and I took a day trip on a boat in Alghero with mostly Italian tourists. We don't speak and Italian with the exception of a few key phrases but we managed to meet a few people including our pal Antonio (bald guy pictured) who was very kind and friendly. He didn't speak much English but instead an Italian, French, English combo. We we went swimming, ate mussels, drank and learned about Antonio's career as a Jim Beam distributor in Sardinia. I have no idea what is being said in this recording but it was an amazing day.
